Soft Anime, Douyin, Wet Anime, Manga & Manhua Lash Designs
Anime lash extensions can be soft and almost effortless, or they can become the defining feature of the entire eye.
Some clients want only a few delicate spikes woven into an airy lash line. Others want unmistakable Manga peaks, strong separation, dimensional texture and carefully coordinated bottom lashes. At the most dramatic end of the spectrum, the lash set becomes less like a conventional extension service and more like a complete eye design.
At Lash Pilot Santa Monica, we do not treat Anime lashes as one fixed style or one universal map. We customize the spike pattern, supporting texture, curl, density, negative space, visual apex and optional bottom lashes according to your natural lashes, eye anatomy, inspiration and desired level of drama.
Your inspiration tells us where you want to go. Your natural lashes help determine how we get there.
So before we ask which style name you want, we usually begin with a simpler question:
Choose Your Anime Lash Style
Lash Pilot organizes Anime-inspired styling into five design levels so it is easier to communicate the result you want. The progression begins with subtle Anime influence and builds toward increasingly graphic, dimensional and editorial designs.
| Lash Pilot Anime Style | Full Set | 2-Week Fill | Signature Look | Drama |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Soft Anime | $190 | $89 | Airy, delicate, wearable spikes | Subtle |
| Douyin | $240 | $99 | Wispy, feminine, dimensional | Moderate |
| Wet Lash Anime | $290 | $119 | Defined, glossy-looking, textured | Stand-Out |
| Anime Manga | $320 | $149 | Graphic, separated, illustrated | Bold |
| Manhua Anime | $380 | $169 | Intricate, dimensional, editorial | Editorial |
The easiest way to understand the collection is to think of it as a progression:
Soft Anime → Douyin → Wet Anime → Manga → Manhua
Moving up the collection does not simply mean adding more lashes. The design language changes. The spikes become more visually dominant, the contrast becomes stronger, the negative space becomes more intentional, and the supporting texture becomes increasingly defined and dimensional.
At the higher levels, the relationship between the upper and bottom lashes can also become part of the overall composition.
Complete the Anime Eye With Bottom Lashes
Anime styling does not have to stop at the upper lash line.
For clients who want more lower-eye definition, Lash Pilot offers three levels of bottom lash extensions:
| Bottom Lash Style | Price | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| 1-Layer Bottom Lash | $55 | Delicate lower-lash definition |
| Anime Bottom Lash | $75 | Separated, illustrated lower spikes |
| Volume Bottom Lash | $95 | Fuller, darker, dramatic lower styling |
Bottom lashes are completely optional. Their purpose is not automatically to make the look more dramatic. The lower design should support the upper design.
A Soft Anime client may only want a subtle lower frame. A Manga client may prefer separated Anime spikes along the lower lash line. A Manhua client may want a fuller upper-and-lower design with stronger editorial presence.
Upper lashes create the architecture. Bottom lashes can complete the frame.
What Are Anime Lash Extensions?
Anime lash extensions use intentionally prominent spikes, shorter supporting lashes and visible separation to create a more structured and illustrated effect than conventional blended lash extensions.
The key word is intentional.
In a traditional wispy set, different lengths may blend softly into one another. With Anime styling, certain longer pieces are designed to remain visually distinct. Those peaks create the rhythm of the lash design.
How dramatic the finished look becomes depends on the contrast between the longer spikes and the supporting lashes around them.
When that contrast is subtle, the result can feel soft and wearable. When the difference becomes more pronounced, the style begins to look increasingly graphic, illustrated and unmistakably Anime.
What’s the Difference Between Soft Anime, Douyin, Wet Anime, Manga and Manhua?
If you save lash photos from TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest or Xiaohongshu, you may notice that very different looks are often described as “Anime lashes.”
That can be confusing, because Anime, Manga, Manhua, Douyin and wet-look terminology is not standardized across the lash industry. Different artists may use these names differently.
At Lash Pilot, we use the five categories below to communicate texture, spike definition, design complexity and level of drama.
Soft Anime — $190
When the Spikes Are an Accent
Soft Anime is the closest bridge between traditional wispy extensions and a more recognizable Anime design.
The longer peaks are visible, but they do not dominate the entire lash line. The supporting lashes remain relatively airy, and the difference between the shorter lashes and longer spikes is intentionally restrained.
The effect is delicate rather than graphic.
Soft Anime is ideal for a client who looks at a dramatic inspiration photo and says:
“I love that, but I want a softer version.”
It is especially well suited for first-time Anime clients, clients who normally wear natural or wispy lashes, and anyone who wants the Anime influence without making the lashes the strongest feature of the face.
The visual effect is airy, delicate, wearable and softly spiked.
Anime Level: ★★☆☆☆
Douyin — $240
When the Texture Becomes More Dimensional
Douyin moves one step beyond Soft Anime.
The peaks become easier to see, the variation between lengths becomes more noticeable, and the lash line develops more movement. The overall look remains feminine and soft, but there is greater visual interest and a more obvious relationship between the longer peaks and the shorter supporting lashes.
Where Soft Anime feels delicate and understated, Douyin adds a more polished, social-media-inspired softness.
Think of it as a style that sits between natural wispy lashes and the more graphic world of Manga.
The visual effect is wispy, feminine, dimensional and romantic.
Anime Level: ★★★☆☆
Wet Lash Anime — $290
When Texture Becomes Definition
Wet Lash Anime changes the character of the supporting lashes.
Instead of relying primarily on fluffy softness, the design uses narrower, more defined lash groupings to create a crisp, almost glossy appearance. The spaces between the lashes become easier to see, and the Anime peaks become more pronounced.
Wet Anime feels high-definition.
This style is ideal for clients who love the sleek texture of wet-look lashes but want stronger Anime architecture woven into the design.
The visual effect is defined, crisp, textured, spiky and dimensional.
Anime Level: ★★★★☆
Anime Manga — $320
When the Spikes Become the Architecture
Manga is where the collection makes a major visual jump.
The spikes are no longer decorative accents sitting above another lash style.
The spikes become the design.
The longer peaks are more obvious, the contrast between lengths becomes stronger, and the supporting lashes are intentionally controlled so the major spikes remain recognizable.
This is also why Manga is not simply about making the set fuller.
If every lash becomes equally long or equally dense, the spikes lose their visual importance. The eye can no longer distinguish the structure.
Manga depends on contrast.
It needs enough supporting texture to make the set feel complete, but also enough negative space for the peaks to remain clear.
The result feels graphic, separated, illustrated and unmistakably Anime.
Anime Level: ★★★★★
Manhua Anime — $380
When the Architecture Becomes Artistry
Manhua is the most intricate level in the Lash Pilot Anime Collection.
The goal is no longer simply to create a row of dramatic peaks. The design can incorporate multiple visual layers, including dominant spikes, secondary texture, supporting lashes, directional movement, intentional separation and stronger upper-and-bottom-lash balance.
The major peaks still matter, but more detail can exist between and around them.
That additional dimensionality is what separates Manhua from a simpler Manga pattern.
Manhua is designed for the client who looks at our dramatic Manga set and says:
“Can we go even further?”
The visual effect is intricate, expressive, dimensional and editorial.
Anime Level: ★★★★★+
Manga vs. Manhua Lashes: What’s the Difference?
The difference between Manga and Manhua is easiest to understand when you think about what your eye notices first.
With Manga, the major spikes are the first thing you see. The visual rhythm is graphic and deliberate.
Think:
PEAK — space — PEAK — space — PEAK
With Manhua, the eye notices the entire composition. The major spikes remain important, but there is more secondary texture, more layering and more movement around them.
Think:
primary spike + secondary detail + separation + layering + movement
In simple terms:
Manga is graphic. Manhua is intricate.
Manga says:
“Look at my Anime spikes.”
Manhua says:
“Look at the entire lash design.”
Douyin vs. Wet Anime: What’s the Difference?
These two styles are often confused because both can include noticeable peaks and separation.
The easiest way to distinguish them is by looking at the surrounding texture.
Douyin is softer and more feathery. The peaks emerge from a wispy, romantic texture that blends more gently across the lash line.
Wet Anime is more defined. The supporting lashes appear narrower, more separated and more intentional, creating a sharper, higher-contrast result.
In simple terms:
Douyin is soft-focus. Wet Anime is high-definition.
Soft Anime vs. Manga: How Different Are They?
Both styles contain Anime-inspired peaks, but they serve completely different purposes.
With Soft Anime, the spikes are there to complement the eyes.
With Manga, the spikes are there to define the lash design.
Soft Anime keeps the length contrast more restrained so the peaks blend naturally into the surrounding lashes.
Manga deliberately increases that contrast so the major spikes become part of the identity of the set.
This is why two clients can show us similar inspiration photos and still choose completely different Anime levels.
Anime Lashes Are Not Simply Mega Volume With Spikes
One of the biggest misconceptions about Anime lash design is that more drama automatically means more density.
It does not.
Anime lashes are not simply the longest extensions possible, the fullest volume possible or the same universal map applied to every client.
In fact, adding too much density can sometimes hide the very architecture that makes Manga or Manhua recognizable.
If every section of the lash line becomes equally dramatic, the eye loses the contrast between dominant and supporting elements.
Good Anime design depends on the relationship between spikes, texture, negative space, direction and shape.
Sometimes the best way to make a dramatic spike look stronger is not to add more around it, but to give it enough visual room to stand out.
Anatomy of an Anime Lash Map
Anime lashes can look deceptively simple.
At first glance, the design may appear to be nothing more than a pattern of long lashes and short lashes. In reality, several elements work together to determine how the finished set looks from the front.
Anchor Spikes
Anchor spikes are the dominant peaks in the design.
Their position establishes the rhythm of the set. Changing the number, length or placement of those spikes can dramatically change the finished eye.
Supporting Lashes
Supporting lashes fill the structure around and between the main spikes.
Their texture can be airy, wispy, wet or dimensional depending on the style.
Their job is to create depth without hiding the important peaks.
Negative Space
In Anime design, what we leave visually open can be just as important as what we fill.
Intentional separation allows the spikes to remain recognizable.
Visual Apex
The visual apex is the highest point or strongest area of emphasis in the map.
Moving that point toward the center creates a different visual effect from shifting the emphasis farther outward.
Inner and Outer Transitions
A strong Anime set should still feel intentional from beginning to end.
The inner lashes need to transition smoothly into the main pattern, while the outer corner should support the desired silhouette rather than automatically becoming the longest section.
Bottom-Lash Accents
When bottom lashes are added, their direction and density should work with the upper design rather than simply copying it.
The goal is harmony, not duplication.
Anime Lash Mapping: One Map Does Not Fit Every Eye
A viral lash map can be excellent inspiration.
It is not automatically the right map for your eyes.
Before designing the set, Lash Pilot may consider the natural lash density, lash length, growth direction, visible lash condition, eye shape, eyelid visibility, desired intensity and whether bottom lashes are part of the inspiration.
Two clients can bring us the same screenshot and leave with different maps.
That is not inconsistency.
That is customization.
Anime Lash Mapping for Different Eye Shapes
Almond Eyes
Almond eyes can support many design directions.
A stronger central emphasis can create a more open or doll-like appearance, while shifting visual weight farther outward may create a more elongated effect.
The right choice depends on the client’s goal rather than the eye shape alone.
Round Eyes
Some clients want to emphasize the natural openness of round eyes, while others prefer more elongation.
Those two goals require different mapping decisions.
Hooded Eyes
With hooded eyes, front-view visibility becomes especially important.
A spike may look beautiful when the eyes are closed but become less visible once the eyelid is open.
For that reason, curl, length and placement may need to work together differently than they would on a more exposed lash line.
Monolids and Low-Crease Eyes
Anime styling can look striking on monolids and low-crease eyes, but projection and visibility often deserve special attention.
Depending on the natural lash direction and eyelid anatomy, curl and spike placement may need to be adjusted so the most important parts of the design remain visible from the front.
Downturned Eyes
When the client wants a more lifted effect, the strongest visual weight may need to sit strategically rather than simply extending the extreme outer corner.
Mature Eyes
Anime does not have to mean extreme.
Soft Anime can introduce definition, separation and texture while still looking refined and sophisticated.
Eye anatomy gives us information. Your desired result gives us direction.
Anime Lash Mapping for Asian Eyes, Monolids and Low Creases
There is no single “Asian eye shape.”
Asian clients may have monolids, low creases, tapered double eyelids, parallel creases, hooding, epicanthal folds, almond-shaped eyes, rounder eyes or many combinations of those features.
Natural lash direction also varies. Some lashes grow upward, some project forward and others grow downward.
For that reason, Lash Pilot does not begin with ethnicity and assign a predetermined map.
We Map the Eye, Not the Ethnicity.
For Anime styling, we may look closely at front-view spike visibility, natural lash direction, eyelid-to-lash relationship, curl projection, visual apex, negative space, outer-corner direction and the balance between upper and bottom lashes.
The goal is still to capture what you love about your inspiration.
The path to that result may simply need to be different.
Design Case Study: Soft Anime for a Low-Crease Asian Eye
Goal: Visible Anime Spikes Without Overwhelming the Eye
This design begins with a client who loves the delicate separation of Anime lashes but does not want a highly dramatic result.
Her eyelid crease sits lower, and her natural lashes are relatively straight. Because of that, simply copying the exact lengths from an inspiration photo would not necessarily create the same visible effect once her eyes were open.
Her goal is straightforward:
“I want Anime lashes, but I still want them soft and I want my eyes to look open.”
Instead of focusing only on the numbers in a lash map, we look at how much of each spike remains visible from the front, how the natural lashes project, where the eye appears most open and whether the outer lashes create lift or visual weight.
For this design, the inner area remains delicate while the stronger visible peaks develop through the central portion of the eye. The supporting texture stays airy so the lash line does not become heavy.
Most importantly, the map is evaluated according to what can actually be seen with the eyes open.
The finished style remains recognizably Anime, but the overall impression stays soft.
The peaks are visible without dominating the eye.
The lesson from this design is simple:
Visibility mattered more than maximum length.

Design Case Study: Manga Anime for a Monolid Asian Eye
Goal: Bold Manga Spikes That Stay Visible With the Eyes Open
This design begins with a very different request.
The client wants dramatic Manga peaks and wants those peaks to remain obvious from the front.
Her natural lashes project more forward and downward, and her monolid anatomy changes how certain lengths appear once the eyes are open.
Instead of asking only:
“How long should the lashes be?”
the better question becomes:
“Where should the peaks sit so the design actually reads as Manga from the front?”
That means considering natural lash direction, curl projection, spike visibility, visual apex, outer-corner direction and how much negative space is necessary between the major peaks.
The supporting lashes remain intentionally shorter than the dominant spikes. That difference is what allows the Manga architecture to stay recognizable.
If the supporting layer becomes too close in length to the main peaks, the design begins to blend together.
The outer corner is also controlled rather than automatically becoming longer and longer.
Curl selection matters here as well, but there is no universal “best curl for Asian eyes.”
Two clients with monolids can have very different natural lash angles, eyelid anatomy and design goals.
The correct curl is the one that works with the individual lash direction and the result we are trying to create.
For a more complete illustrated effect, this Manga design can also be paired with Anime Bottom Lashes.
The lower lashes do not need to perfectly mirror the upper design. They simply need to feel like they belong to the same composition.
The finished result remains bold without becoming uniformly dense.
The Manga character comes from projection, visibility, contrast and separation.

Three More Anime Design Transformations
The best way to understand Anime styling is to see how the same design language changes according to the client’s goal.
Soft Anime: “Give Me the Spikes, But Keep It Wearable.”
This client wants a subtle Anime influence that still feels appropriate for everyday wear.
The design uses softer peaks, restrained length contrast and an airy supporting texture so the spikes add personality without overwhelming the eyes.
The result is recognizable Anime styling at close range, but the overall impression remains polished and wearable.
Soft Anime — $190
With 1-Layer Bottom Lash — $245

Anime Manga: “I Want People to Know These Are Anime Lashes.”
This client wants the opposite.
She does not want a conventional wispy set with a few longer pieces. She wants the pattern itself to be visible.
The design therefore uses stronger peaks, shorter supporting lengths and more deliberate negative space.
Instead of blending into the lash line, the spikes become the architecture.
Anime Manga — $320

Manhua Anime: “Don’t Tone It Down.”
This client wants maximum detail.
The design combines dominant spikes with secondary texture, directional movement, dimensional layering and intentional separation.
The goal is not simply more volume.
The challenge is maintaining organization inside the drama.
The finished result should feel intricate rather than crowded.

Dramatic Doesn’t Automatically Mean Heavier
Moving from Soft Anime to Manhua does not mean we simply keep adding heavier extensions.
Lash Pilot’s Health-First Beauty approach begins with the natural lash line.
Before or during the design process, the artist may consider natural lash diameter, density, length, growth direction, visible condition, existing extensions and previous lash history.
Sometimes an inspiration photo needs to be modified.
That might mean adjusting length, density, spike intensity, curl or supporting structure.
The artistic goal remains important, but the design should still respond to what we observe in the client’s natural lashes.
Your inspiration establishes the artistic direction. Your natural lashes help establish the technical plan.
Can Everyone Get Manhua Anime Lashes?
Not necessarily in exactly the same length, density or architecture shown in an inspiration image.
If the artist determines that the desired look should be modified, we may recommend a different length, less density, a softer spike pattern or a different overall structure.
And sometimes the best-looking Anime set is not the most dramatic set on the menu.
A client may look exceptional in Soft Anime or Douyin because those styles complement her eyes, lifestyle and desired maintenance.
The goal is not to sell every client the most expensive service.
The goal is to find the right Anime level for you.
Bring Us the Photo That Made You Stop Scrolling
You do not need to know whether the image saved in your phone is technically Anime, Manga, Manhua, Douyin or Wet Anime.
Bring it.
We treat your inspiration as a design brief, not a stencil.
Instead of focusing only on the label, we look at what actually creates the result you love: the spike pattern, length contrast, negative space, texture, curl, density, visual apex, outer-eye direction, bottom-lash treatment and overall intensity.
Then we translate those visual elements into a design that works with your eyes and natural lashes.
Build Your Full Anime Eye

Wet Lash Anime + Anime Bottom Lash — $365
This is our High-Definition Anime Eye, pairing crisp upper texture with more separated lower accents.
Anime Manga + Anime Bottom Lash — $395
This creates the Full Manga Eye, where graphic upper architecture is carried into the lower lash line.
Manhua Anime + Volume Bottom Lash — $475
This is the Ultimate Anime Eye, combining Lash Pilot’s most intricate upper design with the strongest lower-lash presence.
These are recommended combinations rather than discounted packages. Upper and bottom lash services can also be selected separately.
Anime Lash Fills and Maintenance
Anime lashes can appear to change differently from a blended Volume set because certain spikes have greater visual importance.
If one natural lash carrying a prominent Anime spike sheds, the pattern can look different even though normal shedding is happening throughout the set.
That does not automatically mean Anime lashes are shedding faster.
It means some individual lashes carry more visual weight than others.
Clients who prefer a very crisp Manga or Manhua pattern may therefore notice changes in the design sooner than someone wearing a softer, more blended style.
Your Lash Pilot stylist can recommend maintenance based on the design you choose, how your set wears and how defined you want the spike pattern to remain.
Can Lash Pilot Fill Anime Lashes From Another Salon?
If you already have Anime lash extensions from another artist, we can evaluate the existing work.
Depending on the condition of the lashes, the remaining design and the result you want, the stylist can determine whether the best next step is a fill, redesign, removal or new set.
Foreign Fill: There is a $30 foreign fill fee on top of our weekly fill rate. Our standard weekly fill guide: 2 week fill: 50% retention needed. 3 week fill: 35% retention needed.
Each style has its own fill price
How Long Does an Anime Lash Appointment Take?
